Nvidia’s RTX 4090 Ti appeared briefly on the Galax website as the graphics card maker made a huge mistake before it was quickly removed.
As VideoCardz (opens in a new tab) notes that on the homepage of the Galax website, a top banner was posted regarding the “GeForce RTX 4090 Ti HOF” graphics card, but this was a mistake as mentioned – wrong addition of “Ti” apparently when clicking on the banner leading to the RTX 4090 HOF page.
This graphics card obviously exists – unlike the 4090 Ti – and it’s a special edition RTX 4090 for seasoned overclockers who want to break world records (the acronym HOF stands for “Hall Of Fame Edition”).
In fact, the 4090 HOF has already set records, such as overclocking to 3.8GHz, which has been applied by Team OGS. The banner, which has now been corrected, marks the global launch of the 4090 HOF, which was previously only sold in Asia (or shipped directly to overclockers like OGS in Europe in pre-release form).
Analysis: Honestly, there is no need for an RTX 4090 Ti
As VideoCardz points out, the Galax website team probably needs to lay down in a dark room for a while as there have been a ton of bugs on the site lately. Just like the RTX 4090 HOF launch material, which was ruined by a few typos, including even spec errors. (By the way, this spec includes a maximum power draw of 666W – literally making it a GPU beast.)
Okay, so the obvious rumor circulating after this incident is whether there could be an RTX 4090 Ti in the wings, which Galax accidentally mentioned as such a graphics card is on the horizon. Could it be true?
No, in one word. There haven’t been any leaks around the RTX 4090 Ti – except for the thinnest of whispers, which didn’t convince us at all – and if it was something like an imminent launch, we’d have seen more concrete leaks by now.
We believe there will be an RTX 4090 Ti eventually, or it’s certainly possible, but probably not by good for a long time. Maybe when Nvidia solves the problems related to power consumption and of course with melting adapters – and when there is a real need for a more powerful GPU.
Let’s face it, right now the RTX 4090 is an extremely powerful graphics card that AMD’s new flagship RX 7900 XTX is not remotely questioned, so what exactly would be the point of an RTX 4090 Ti in the near future? This is something for the right way, and Galax’s slip here is just that – a faux pas (one of many in recent times, by all accounts).
